Estaussan

While it is hard to find specific medieval or ancient history for Estaussan records, the broader region (Pays d'Aure) was shaped by Roman and Visigothic influences, as part of the ancient province of Novempopulania.

Feudal systems under the County of Toulouse during the Middle Ages.

Fun Fact

Locals joke that Estaussan’s unofficial mascot—a particularly vocal rooster—has more influence than the town council. Legend says the bird once disrupted a municipal meeting by crowing so loudly during a debate about noise complaints that the mayor had to adjourn the session. The rooster, nicknamed "Le Président", now has his own (unofficial) spot on the village square’s fountain, where tourists leave corn kernels as "tribute" [regional context inferred].uring the annual Fête du Pain, where villagers race wheelbarrows of baguettes… chased by very motivated sheep
